Juneteenth National Holiday Campaign

The producers of the Juneteenth Atlanta Film Showcase are pleased to unite with the Atlanta Juneteenth Organization Inc. (AJOI) in the campaign to make June 19th – or Juneteenth –a national holiday.

As a celebration of the end of slavery,
“Juneteenth is America's 2nd Independence Day,” says Rev. Ronald V. Myers, Sr., M.D., Founder & Chairman of the National Juneteenth Observance Foundation (NJOF).  “It is currently recognized as a state holiday or state holiday observance in 29 states.  The time has come for Juneteenth to be recognized as a state holiday observance in Georgia and a National Holiday in America!”

Stop by the APEX or the Auburn Library between June 19th and 21st to sign a petition to help make Juneteenth a nationally observed holiday!  For more information about the National Juneteenth Holiday Campaign, or to sign the petition online, visit www.juneteenth.us.
