TICKETS


     Advance tickets are available for the Opening Program of the Juneteenth Atlanta Film Showcase, taking place Wednesday, June 18, 2008 at 7pm.  

The program will feature a special screening of the film Blind Tom: The Last Legal Slave in America, a documentary short about the incredibly talented blind African American musician and composer who mesmerized crowds in the late 1800s, though he remained a slave - the last legal slave - until his death in 1908.  Directed by Andre T. Regan and narrated by Tim Reid.

   

 In addition to the Blind Tom film screening and musical, spoken word and storytelling performances, the program will include the presentation of a donation The Campaign for the Ossie Davis Endowment Mr. Davis’ grandson, Muta Ali Muhammad, will be present on behalf of the Endowment to receive the contribution.

  The Campaign for The Ossie Davis Endowment supports
Ossie Davis Scholars, African American college students charged with continuing Davis’ life of artistic activism through their educational and professional choices.  The Campaign was established by friends of Mr. Davis, with the blessing of the Davis family.  The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) administers the Endowment.  For additional information about the campaign and the endowment, visit www.ossiedavisendowment.com
